Настоящий каталог представляет Новое собрание сочинений Дмитрия Шостаковича в 150-ти томах, к выпуску которого издательство приступило в 2000 году.
Издания «DSCH» осуществляются на основе автографов, находящихся в личном архиве композитора и других хранилищах, сопровождаются пояснительными статьями специалистов об истории создания сочинений, их особенностях и исполнительской судьбе, а также научными текстологическими комментариями на русском и английском языках и фрагментами факсимиле. Тексты вокальных сочинений даются не только в русском оригинале, но и с латинской траслитерацией.
Особенное внимание издательство уделяет публикации ранее неизвестных, забытых или не разрешённых прежде к изданию произведений композитора, а также устранению ошибок и неточностей, обнаруженных в предыдущих изданиях. Сочинения, отмеченные знаком*, публикуются впервые или полностью публикуются впервые. Отмеченные квадратной скобкой тома издаются в одной книжке.
Для всех оркестровых сочинений подготовлены оркестровые материалы, которые находятся в Отделе проката издательства.
С 2006 года выходит новая серия изданий «Архив Д. Д. Шостаковича», в которой публикуются обнаруженные исследователями материалы из творческого наследия композитора.
